Woodlawn Restaurants for Traditional Irish Breakfast

There is nothing as satisfying or filling than a traditional Irish breakfast with bacon, sausage and eggs and a hot cup of tea.

There are several great breakfast restaurants in the Woodlawn area but none are listed in the Wikipedia listing for Woodlawn.  Restaurants like Eileen’s Country Kitchen, the Rambling House and Mary’s Celtic Kitchen are all within a few blocks of each other and offer a terrific and tasty meal.  Whether you are an early bird or pull an all-nighter, any of these places are uniquely qualified to serve the finest Irish breakfast.

When you do a Google search for Woodlawn under the Wikipedia listing you get a general overview of the location with little more than population, demographics, places of worship and transportation.   In the Overview section they mention the Irish pubs but neglect to mention the great food finds in the area.
Katonah Avenue, which runs north-south through the heart of Woodlawn, is a popular destination for its many Irish pubs and restaurants, The Emerald Isle Immigration Center, an Italian bakery, an Irish Butcher Shop, an Irish Barber Shop, and many other types of specialty shops.
This limited insight does nothing for enriching your cultural experience of the food that is available, especially breakfasts.  In an effort to enrich the Woodlawn page on Wikipedia, I will provide some great breakfast locations.

It’s helpful to know there are many Irish pubs and restaurants, but it would be even more helpful to provide some names of the restaurants so a tourist or even someone from Ireland could get a suggestion for where to go for a meal.

This is how I improved on the Wikipedia text:
Katonah Avenue, which runs north-south through the heart of Woodlawn, is a popular destination for its many Irish pubs and restaurants, such as Eileen’s Country Kitchen, Rambling House and Mary’s Celtic Kitchen.  All offer traditional Irish breakfast or brunch at reasonable prices. In addition there is The Emerald Isle Immigration Center, an Italian bakery, an Irish Butcher Shop, an Irish Barber Shop, and many other types of specialty shops.

I think it is valuable to have the names of the restaurants listed so a visitor to the area can decide which is best for them and can check out the restaurants site or even Yelp for a review. I hope my blog provides some added insight and is a resource of worthwhile information for anyone wanting to get an authentic taste of Ireland in the Bronx.

If you are interested in all things Bronx Irish, then check out the restaurants of Woodlawn, especially now that Wikipedia has been updated with a little more details.
